"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." ~Matthew 7:7
Jesus spoke those words in Matthew many years ago. And I am here today that while we are in the year 2012, His words are still speaking to you and I.
On Friday, May 18th I asked for help. I needed help with raising some funds for a trip to go to South Dakota with my husband in July.
In two short weeks our family was able to watch the donations come in. One by one. At the ice rink, while I was tying my daughters figure skates, I was handed an envelope. About one hour later I received a text from someone asking my address so they could send me a donation. A mention of our upcoming trip in church resulted in several placing a special offering in the plate as it was passed and a generous soul even slipped a $100 bill in my hand while passing by. A friend just looking for someone who may need some help, family members who reached out. The list could go on and on, but I am here to say that because I stepped out of my comfort zone, and asked for help. God was able to show up and use many others to show that his promise in Matthew was not just for someone a thousand or so years ago.
Now, the real journey begins. I keep getting asked what my expectations are from this trip. I have to be honest, I have lived my life with many "expectations" for quite a few years. And because of that the past few years, I have really tried to STOP! God has so many ways he wants to use us and so many times we interfere with His desires because of our own expectations.
How can you help now? If you continue to feel led to donate to our Missions Trip, I would encourage you to do that. While our expenses are covered, we can use whatever donations come in to show the Love of Christ to those out there. But most of all start praying now. While we are going to remain in the States for our trip. We still have a lot to be in prayer for. I will try to share some specific areas in upcoming posts, but honestly, Phil and I just want to be used in whatever way possible. We are going to a place that has children dying from hantavirus. (Right Now!) The teenage suicide rate is off the charts and alcoholism is as common as clean drinking water here in our homes. There are some serious health and spiritual issues in the area that we are going to be at.
Thank you again for everything!
~Misti~
