Life certainly isn't slowing down around in our household. I am not sure where the term lazy hazy days of summer came from, but we are having anything but a lazy summer.
It has been fantastic so far, and I am anxiously awaiting the next month because there is so much going on.
However, with the many activities and such we have going on it seems to make time go by even quicker.
With that said, it has been many months since I checked in on my goals for 2012. Here is how things are going.
Misti's 2012 Goals (in no particular order)
**Spend quiet time in the Bible each day.
I am doing pretty good with this one. I would like to be in the Word a bit longer, but working on it.
**Stick to ideas set for a least 2 months then revisit them & reevaluate.
Was doing great with this. Life has gotten busy and so we are just doing what needs to be done. Not really adding anything new into our life right now.
**Exercise for 15 min each day (for 1 month), 30 min (2nd month) working up to 60 minutes
I have been trying to walk around 3 miles each day when I drop my daughter off to babysit. I say "trying" because morning like today my iPod battery was dead. However, I plan on walking when my son has 2 hour basketball camp tonight. I feel FANTASTIC when I do it! I always wonder why I always put off exercise.
**Eat healthier
Up until last week I was doing pretty good with this. Something that has really been helpful is to track what I am eating on My Fitness Pal. While doing this, I have realized what I kind of already knew, it isn't that I am over eating, I actually do not put enough into my body which has basically stalled ALL metabolism in my body. Working on this and putting much better choices into my body is the goal!
**Look over budget bi-weekly & make sure it is on track
Phil has been a great accountability partner and we have been doing well with keeping track of our finances on a weekly/bi-weekly basis.
**Look over goals/dreams with Phil monthly
I don't think this is actually happening as a designated situation. We have however been in prayer and are seeking God in some specific areas of our lives which in the end kind of ties into our goals/dreams.
**Write 1 note to someone each week & mail it.
Have gotten out of the habit to do this. MUST make this a priority!
**Birthday letters to my children & husband.
FAIL! Have "thought" about it, just haven't made it happen. A birthday is coming up in July....no time like the present!
**Date night with Phil 1 per month.
I think we have been able to do this. One MAJOR advantage to having your children grow up, is it truly is easier to get away with your spouse!
**Weekend get-a-way/cabin with Phil
COMPLETED!
**Show love of Christ to ALL.
I try. I also want to keep the Love of Christ in my mind while encountering others.
**Figure out each family member's Love Language and act upon it filling each of their Love Tanks.
Haven't done this
**Read 12 non-fiction books.
I haven't kept track of the books I have read. I am currently reading a great non-fiction book on Raising Children With Character that Will Last a Lifetime.
**Raise funds to travel to SD with Phil.
COMPLETE! I actually forgot that I made this a goal way back in January. Interesting!!!
**Continue to research ways/pray what we can do HERE for Pastor Peter in Nigeria.
God has revealed some ideas to me. Now I just need to act upon them.
**CONSISTENCY
**Organize each crevice of home & purge what needs purged.
UH, yea...I did reorganize the front porch/school room. :)
**Create 1 memory book per month to get photos in order.
As soon as I finish this post I am going to be making my 4th photo book for the year. I'm getting there.
**Decorate home & make it our own.
I have the ideas. Now for some time and money to make this happen.
**Get
some sort of portable electronic device (iPad, laptop, Kindle Fire,
etc.) **I am away from my home A LOT and this could really help me
get some things accomplished while sitting at a rink or waiting in
between games.
COMPLETE
**Cook meals with Love NOT necessity. (If
you know me I do NOT like to cook. However, I sometimes feel like I
should try cooking with love & maybe I would enjoy it a bit more.)
This actually has been one of the biggest transformations for me. Taking my role as the family book has taken on a whole new meaning now that I am cooking out of love not out of pure need. I can definitively tell the difference in my attitude when preparing meals & my family's response also.
How are you doing? Do you still have your goals/resolutions/whatever you call them from the beginning of the year? Let's hear about your successes.
~Misti~
